EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. (Feb. 05, 2026) – 84 Lumber has donated $10,000 to Veterans Community Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing veteran homelessness. The donation was made during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that aired on February 4, 2026.
Veterans Community Project was founded by combat veterans Bryan Meyer and Brandon Mixon, who first connected through independent volunteer work and a shared desire to better serve struggling veterans in their communities. Their early efforts included providing free local bus passes to veterans, surpassing one million rides within a year. Building on that success, the organization expanded its mission to include a bold and tangible solution to veteran homelessness: the development of tiny home communities.
In December 2017, Meyer and Mixon began framing the first 13 tiny homes in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, Veterans Community Project has expanded from Missouri to Arizona, Colorado, California, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, with plans to continue growing into additional states. To date, the organization has built hundreds of fully furnished tiny homes that provide unhoused veterans with privacy, safety, and stability.
“Veterans Community Project is addressing veteran homelessness with dignity, compassion, and tangible solutions,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing at 84 Lumber. “Their innovative approach not only provides housing, but also the long-term support veterans need to regain stability and rebuild their lives. We are honored to support their mission and the incredible work they are doing.”
In addition to housing, Veterans Community Project offers wraparound case management services, including health and mental well-being support, job assistance, financial coaching, benefits navigation, and community-building programs. The organization’s outreach services are available to any veteran in need of food, hygiene supplies, identification assistance, emergency support, and connections to VA and local resources.
The $10,000 donation from 84 Lumber will help support the continued expansion of Veterans Community Project’s housing communities and outreach services, furthering its mission to end veteran homelessness and strengthen the communities that serve those who have served our country.
