EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. (Jul 31, 2026) – 84 Lumber, the nation's largest privately held supplier of building materials, has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry as one of the 2026 Greatest Places to Intern in Pennsylvania.
The award recognizes organizations across the Commonwealth that provide exceptional internship experiences through meaningful work, experiential learning, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that prepare students for successful careers.
"Our internship program is designed to give students much more than a summer job," said Sue Kasko, Senior Director of Training at 84 Lumber. "We strive to create an experience where interns feel like valued members of our team, gain meaningful hands-on experience, and build relationships with mentors across the company. Watching them grow professionally over the course of the summer and seeing many of them return to 84 Lumber after graduation is incredibly rewarding. We're honored to be recognized by the Pennsylvania Chamber for our commitment to developing future talent."
Each summer, 84 Lumber welcomes college students from a variety of disciplines, including marketing, information technology, finance, human resources, and purchasing. Interns work alongside experienced associates on meaningful projects that support the company's strategic initiatives while participating in professional development opportunities and team-building activities that prepare them for their careers after graduation.
The internship program serves as an important part of 84 Lumber's talent pipeline, with many former interns returning to the company as full-time associates and building successful careers across the organization.
The Greatest Places to Intern in PA program recognizes Pennsylvania employers that demonstrate excellence in experiential learning, professional development, and workforce readiness while helping strengthen the Commonwealth's future workforce. Honorees were recognized during the Pennsylvania Chamber's National Intern Day celebration on July 30, 2026. To learn more about career opportunities at 84 Lumber, visit 84lumber.com/careers/.
