EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. (March. 14, 2024) — 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, has started rebuilding after a fire destroyed part of the company’s Lexington, Kentucky facility earlier this year. Defying the odds, the company never stopped serving its customers and the public.

84 Lumber associates have been working to fulfill customer orders after the Jan. 20, 2024, fire at 2345 Palumbo Drive destroyed the main building and showroom. Despite the setback, the lumber company has been able to continue operations as normal. The rebuilding of a new store at the location has started.

“It’s a miracle no one was hurt in that devastating fire,” said 84 Lumber store manager Jeff Byers. “We’re grateful for all area first responders who helped salvage as much as possible.”

As a sign of the company’s gratitude, 84 Lumber is donating $150,000 to the Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters, with the money being equally distributed amongst the three stations that responded.

“We can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to this community,” said Byers. “On behalf of myself and the team, we are truly grateful for everyone’s tremendous support.”

“The Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters are extremely honored to accept this generous donation," said Lt. Chris MacFarlane, president of the Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters. “The FOF works to provide numerous opportunities for our firefighters and the Lexington community. Donations like this allow us to continue the charitable work we do, on and off duty.”

Customers in the area can still visit the Palumbo Drive location for assistance or visit other 84 Lumber locations nearby at 100 Markham Drive, Versailles, Kentucky; 1450 Bypass Road, Winchester, Kentucky; 100 Frazier Court, Georgetown, Kentucky; and at 380 Artz Drive, Richmond, Kentucky.
