84 Lumber Donates $100,000 to Women Undergoing Breast Cancer Treatment on The View

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, building materials supplier makes $100,000 donation live on national television

EIGHTY FOUR, PA. (October 28, 2021) – For the sixth year in a row, 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, is raising awareness for breast cancer and honoring people who have been impacted by the disease throughout October. Yesterday, the company surprised four women undergoing breast cancer treatment with $25,000 each on ABC’s The View. The episode and donations were also in celebration of The View’s 25th Anniversary.

“We understand that breast cancer can have lifelong effects, which is why we wanted to donate to these four wonderful women,” said 84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy Knox. “We are thankful that The View helped us pull off this exciting surprise, and we hope it has a positive impact on their families.”

The $100,000 donation was split between two mother-daughter duos who each took home $25,000. The surprise was part of 84 Lumber’s month-long initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to the donation on The View, the company turned its iconic 84 logos pink on all digital platforms, donated $25,000 to breast cancer research, partnered with a local coffee truck owner to create special pink drinks and more.
