Three Western Pennsylvania woman-owned businesses have been named finalists in the L.I.F.T. EmpowerHER Grant contest, presented in partnership by the Pittsburgh Penguins and 84 Lumber.
Fan voting is now underway here and runs through April 13. The winner will be solely determined by public votes and the winning company will receive the $25,000 EmpowerHER Grant.
The three finalists are:
- Treasure House Fashions
- Hannahtopia
- Curly Tail Coffee
Treasure House Fashions, owned by Sally Power, is a non-profit, quality women’s resale clothing shop that helps promote the dignity and self-esteem of women, particularly those in life transitions or crisis.
Hannahtopia, owned by Heather Shuker, is a company that produces and provides products for special needs families to provide fun, colorful, comfy, safe and functional products for children facing medical challenges.
Curly Tail Coffee, owned by Nicole Waltenbaugh, is a small-batch coffee roaster and food-truck style drive-thru mobile unit that donates a portion of every coffee sale to a local animal rescue.
Finalists were decided based on an evaluation of the importance and impact of the business within their local community, the current status and health of the business and how this grant would make a difference, as well as the number of nominations received.
More than 1,100 essay-style entries were received with over 300 unique local woman-owned business nominated from the following eligible counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland.
