84 Lumber Expanding in Western States

Eighty Four, Penn. — 84 Lumber, the nation’s leading privately held building materials and services supplier, announced today that it will establish a new office in Phoenix, Arizona, and plans to open at least a dozen new stores and manufacturing facilities in the Western United States within the next 18 months.

Serving as the company’s Western headquarters, the new office in Phoenix will give both existing and new stores in the region greater access to 84 Lumber services and support. Mark Mollico, a 30-year veteran of 84 Lumber, will relocate to Phoenix to open the new office and lead a team of associates in store operations and development.

84 Lumber’s expansion plans will nearly double its footprint in the west, where the company already operates 19 stores across Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

“We are taking the steps needed to seize the growth opportunities we’ve identified in the Western markets,” said Frank Cicero, Chief Operating Officer of 84 Lumber. “By establishing an Arizona headquarters, we are putting the right people and systems in place to successfully execute our aggressive expansion plans over the next two years.”

Founded in 1956, 84 Lumber started as a “cash and carry” lumber yard in rural Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, 20 miles south of Pittsburgh, where the company continues to maintain its national headquarters. Today, the company operates more than 250 stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, custom millwork shops, and engineered wood product (EWP) centers in 30 states, representing the top 130 markets in the country. 84 Lumber also offers professional residential and commercial contractors turn-key installed services for a variety of products including framing, insulation, siding, windows, roofing, decking, and drywall.
