84 Lumber Awards More Than $100,000 to Individuals as Part of Scholarship Program

EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. (July 24, 2017) – 84 Lumber isn’t just a company, it’s a family. Privately owned and operated by the Hardy family since its inception in 1956, 84 Lumber has demonstrated commitment to its people at every turn. And that includes the annual 84 Lumber scholarship program. 

Focused on giving back to associates, the program features three different scholarships: the George T. Handyside Scholarship, Eileen Jurofcik Memorial Scholarship and the 20 Year Scholarship. Each program supports the spouse or child of a current associate as they pursue post-secondary education. Additionally, the 20 Year Scholarship awards $1,000 to each eligible recipient, as nominated by the 84 Lumber associate. 

84 Lumber received more than 180 applications for the George T. Handyside Scholarship and Eileen Jurofcik Memorial Scholarships and selected the following winners:

84 Lumber also selected 100 recipients for the 20 Year Scholarship program.

Scholarship applications are made available each January on 84Lumber.com and can be submitted through the end of May.  From there, the review and recipient selection process is conducted and completed by independent educators from the Pittsburgh-region.
