Hurricane Relief

84 Lumber is providing disaster relief for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX.

At 84 Lumber, our associates, customers and vendors are part of our family. And in times of difficulty, families come together. That’s exactly why we’re committed to giving back to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey throughout the Houston area.

To date, 84 Lumber has donated more than $100,000 in money and supplies to Mayor Turner’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, Team Rubicon, and JJ Watt’s Houston Flood Relief Fund, and that’s just the beginning. We’re continuing to work directly with local residents to help them understand the financial aid opportunities available, are keeping our stores stocked and serviced and will be a shoulder to lean for Houston.

Over the next several months, 84 Lumber will help those affected by Hurricane Harvey by coordinating government relief initiatives. We’re proud members of FEMA’s National Business Emergency Operations Center and support the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD).

As 84 Lumber president and owner Maggie Hardy Magerko said, “In situations like these, it’s easy to focus on the suffering and destruction you see on TV, but we can’t be consumed by it. Instead, look ahead to the recovery. Because for every story of loss, there has to be one of hope and redemption. And that’s what I want 84 Lumber to be. Let’s be the face of optimism, rebuilding, and renewal. Let’s be the face of the Houston that will come back stronger than ever.”

If you’re interested in helping support the rebuilding efforts in Houston,
here are three of 84 Lumber’s preferred charitable partners:

  • Team Rubicon: Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.
  • JJ Watt Flood Relief Fund: JJ Watt is a Houston Texans NFL player who was among the first celebrities to coordinate fundraising efforts for the people of Houston. He has promised that 100% of all donations will go to the flood victims.
  • Mayor Turner’s Houston Relief Fund: Mayor Sylvester Turner established this fund to aid the victims of the flooding, including shelter and temporary housing needs, food and supplies, healthcare, transportation, child care, and other relief efforts.
