BUILDING HOPE
Being a good corporate citizen goes beyond donating money and
materials - it means having a commitment and a vision. At 84 Lumber,
we believe it's our responsibility to help those individuals and
organizations most in need, or that can make the greatest positive
impact. We do this through the 84 Lumber Building Hope campaign.
Since our founding in 1956, 84 Lumber has actively supported local,
regional and national charitable organizations ranging from Volunteer
Fire Departments, to chapters of the Red Cross and United Way, to the
national efforts of Habitat for Humanity. |

Musicians Village
As part of its 2006 initiative to help the Gulf Coast recover from
hurricanes Katrina and Rita, 84 Lumber funded the construction of 10 homes
in New Orleans’ Musicians Village in conjunction with the Southern
Governors Association (SGA). Musician's Village, located in the devastated
9th Ward, is being spearheaded by New Orleans’ musicians, Harry Connick
Jr. and Branford Marsalis.
84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy Magerko and Founder and CEO Joe Hardy
joined Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, as well as Governors from
several other southern states in announcing the donation as part of the
SGA's annual meeting held last summer in New Orleans.
New Orleans Habitat for Humanity
In continuing efforts to assist Habitat for Humanity in its efforts to
rebuild affordable housing for Gulf Coast residents 84 Lumber donated 20
lumber packages to the New Orleans Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity
affiliate as part of the hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts. The homes
will be constructed throughout the Greater New Orleans area.
