MANAGEMENT TRAINING
Most 84 associates start their career as a Manager Trainee, and quickly
work their way "up the ladder". 84 Lumber's front-loaded, on-the-job
training program provides a solid foundation of building industry
knowledge and business management practices. As a Manager Trainee you will
do many things within the store, including:
- Selling and loading building materials
- Managing your Area of Responsibility within the store
- Creating material estimates
- Creating and maintaining your personal Trade Relations Program
- Loading/Unloading Trucks
- Maintaining and merchandising inventory
- Working towards becoming a future Store Manager
Manager Trainees are eligible for their first raise after completing a
home-study program at their own pace. Usually within the first year,
successful Manager Trainees are promoted to Co-Manager of a store, a
Contractor Sales Representative, or a position at our Corporate
Headquarters. Simply stated, you create your own future at 84 Lumber!
Management Trainee Program
Throughout the year, new Manager Trainees visit Team Headquarters for an
intensive 4-day training experience. New programs are constantly being
developed to give associates in-depth training on specific subjects. After
completion of the first month of training, Manager Trainees will begin a
nine-part home study program. Completion of the program leads to your
first raise and promotion eligibility.
